Hi Melissa, it’s 1000 watts with the 72 oz jar. I wrote a full review of the blender here: http://testkitchentuesday.com/2010/11/26/product-review-ninja-professional-blender/

Thanks for the time on all the recipes. I will try some soon. Apparently No one has the recipes for Ninja and dont want to spend 30 dolars on a cookbook. Add me to that list.
    Keep up the great website.

There is a recipe book on the Ninja site that in the parts and accessories section that costs $29.95. I haven’t purchased it so can’t say if it includes the ones they made on the infomercial. Had good response with the Live Chat option on their site; perhaps you could find out enough to see if it might be worth the price.

If you didn’t get the recipe book with your Ninja, you DON’T have to buy it. Go to the Ninja page on Facebook and you will find all the recipes from the book.

I purchased the NJ600C just yesterday and love it. After I made the purchase and spent some time on line looking for recipes, etc. I noticed that the 1100 version has a 40 oz bowl and a selection of other blades and am wondering if the bases of the two machines are compatible such that I could order a smaller bowl and other blades to use with my base. It looks like I would also have to order another lid or would the one I have fit both the pitcher and the smaller bowl? Appreciate any info you have.

      Hi Lyn,

The bases and lids look identical to me; however, I don’t know for certain that the parts for the 1100 are interchangable, as I have not tried doing it. I can’t imagine they’d make them to different dimensions, as that would be ineffective for manufacturing sake. If you do try it, come back and let me know how it worked out!

I just got a 1200 system with both bowl and pitcher. The 40 oz. bowl comes with a shorter blade assemble (duh!) and a bread-type dough blade and a cookie-type dough paddle (shorter than the whipping paddle that comes with the 72 oz. pitcher). The lids are interchangeable.

    Thanks for healthy recipes.

Just talked with Rachel from Ninja and was advised that the bowl will fit my base, the lids are not interchangeable, and don’t use the dough attachments as they will fry my motor. Aside from that I’m good to go so have ordered and will let you know how it all comes together.

We wanted to keep some fiber from veggies in the juice, but after making a carrot apple drink, strained it through a strainer and it tasted great.
Will be trying your creations and checking back for more : )

My mom just purchased a 900 watt NInja and we’ve been experimenting with a blended caramel iced coffee and are creating more foam than I can make when whipping cream! Is there a trick to making these without the foam? My Vitamix doesn’t make foam like that but she’s not prepared to spend that much on a blender. Any tips?

What I would recommend is brewing extra strong coffee and then pouring it into ice cube trays and freezing it. Then, just blend up the ice cubes and stir in the milk when you’re done. Give it a try and let me know how it works! I have been thinking of doing an iced coffee recipe – that is how I would start. Good luck!

I should say – add some water to the extra strong coffee ice cubes when you’re blending it. Or even add some normal strength brewed coffee. That should let it blend but not make foam, then stir in the milk. I am going to try this method tonight and will report back as well. :)

      Hi Naomi,

I have published a couple ice cream recipes – the berry and the banana cream pie. I also have a “Faux Frosty” (http://testkitchentuesday.com/2011/07/12/faux-frosty/) Ihaven’t published any others yet, but I’ll tell you a very simple formula that works pretty well for 2 servings:

1/2 cup milk (even skim works)
1-1.5 cups frozen fruit (peaches, bananas, strawberries, mangos – anything “dense”)
      Sweetener if you please

Blend. It is really that easy!!

You can make them in the single serve cup, no problem at all! Just scale the recipe to fit the cup. It does a very good job.

I received my Ninja two years ago as a Christmas gift…but put it away because I thought it
was too much like a blender. After reading reviews on here I find out I was one of the lucky few who actually got a recipe book included with mine. I pulled the box out this summer and opened up my Ninja…I am so in love with it !! I use it on a daily basis and shelved my blender at the back of the pantry . The grand kids and I are making our snow cones on a regular basis, I can have my favorite iced coffee drink anytime I want !!
I keep left over biscuits, hot rolls, bread etc in the freezer…..when I need bread crumbs or a crunchy topping for a casserole I pull out a few of the frozen biscuits , place them in the Ninja , add a bit of seasonings . Within in a few ‘zaps’ …perfection !!
I suppose my blender could do some of these things…but the ease of the clean up with the Ninja is super fast !!!

      Hi Karen,

I do the same thing for bread crumbs! Any time bread is on the way out, I just freeze it, then thaw and “zap” when I need it. Snow cones is one I hadn’t thought of – smart!

I bought the Ninja 400, then saw the Ninja Prep, bought that, then saw the 1100 an I bought that. I am keeping the 1100 or myself, and giving the other two for Christmas gifts (not used) to my daughters. I made cookies from the recipe book today and I have to tell, I am a cookie baker from way back, especially Christmas. I bake so many and give them away and put some in the freezer. But I have to say, the cookies were absolutely one of my best ever, they were crispy, had a delicious flavor and so good, that I watched my husband eat 12 of them. (he later ate 5 more. He said they were one of my best cookies ever. I will be trying more recipes from the accompanying book. Love my Ninja

I just purchased the Ninja Master Prep Professional (Model BQ1004C) from Canadian Tire last night. I went to the official site to look up the manual in case I was missing something in the box but they don’t have this model listed so I guess this version is exclusive to CT.

Needless to say, I took some time online to research this product. I have the Magic Bullet but while I like it a lot for smoothies, I don’t like it for much else. It’s very hard to control the pulses on it as it tends to want to “lock” and keep going.

I had a smoothie this morning using the Ninja Prep Pro and was very please on how thick and frothy it was. So here I am now trying to find recipes to follow. For people who don’t cook a lot, recipes are essential to have on hand. I was very very disappointed on the lack of recipes. I think I may have to photocopy the Magic Bullet recipes before I send that to the second hand store. 3 recipes in the Quick Start guide just doesn’t cut it.

Shame on Euro-Pro for not being on the ball with that one.

So I will be bookmarking this page of yours. Thanks for posting these recipes and I look forward to seeing more! :)

Just quick note,I made my first cookie batch this morning.
Cookies came out great. I did find out, you pulse your
cookie dough or cake batter. If you push dough button (1)
you will over heat your blender and it will shut off and you have to
wait 15 mintues. Use a cake mix for cookies. You can find

      Hi Megan,

You know, I think that is one of the downfalls of the Ninja with the triple blades instead of the blade at the bottom. Whenever blending leafy greens, they will only blend so far, and then you have little particles left over. My best advice if it bothers you is to strain it with a sieve. People have mixed opinions about straining, but, if I’m juicing, I strain. I think their infomercial is a little misleading about how “good” a juicer it really is, and wrote up a post on how to juice over here: https://testkitchentuesday.wordpress.com/2011/01/04/getting-juiced-how-to-make-juice-with-a-ninja-blender/. Hope that helps!

      Hi Jan,

I think it’s probably a personal decision. When I bought my Ninja, I had never heard of it or seen the infomercial. I think if I had it to do over again, would get the entire kitchen system, because of the extra small jar and other attachments. There are some times when I don’t need to blend enough to warrant messing up the large jar. I have looked into buying parts individually to get the missing pieces, but it adds up to way more than just buying the whole system!

      I hope that helps!

But I did want to let you know about your straining method. You might want to try using a cheese-cloth bag. Then you can compress it to get more juice out. I have been a long time user of a champion juicer (that now sits under my cabinet) but found clean up and the fact that all the pulp was wasted made the lover affair subside.

I am looking forward to juicing with this system to gain more nutrients with the pulp.

    Thanks again,
    Biz

      Hi Biz,

Thanks for stopping by! You are right a cheese cloth or “almond milk bag” for straining is definitely far superior. I have tried lots of different methods based on what I had available at the time. Back in the beginning when I started making recipes, I had only a seive, so that is what I used! I am not a huge juicer, but have heard people pretty much have your same complaint about juicers – the clean up is a bear.

      Thanks for your note,

love you site, thank you for the great ideas! i debated over getting a Ninja Pulse and didn’t want to spend so much but after my first use I’m in love. Easy to clean, easy to use, prep time for everything is fast. This is really perfect for someone like me. I can make anything I want in moments so I can really easily focus on eating healthy and saving $$$. Spending $5 on a smoothie 2-3 times a day can be ridiculously pricey and no always healthy.

    Keep the recipes coming!

I have found a great source for veggie smoothies….a 22 page booklet. Not especially written for Ninja users, but can work in any blender. Go to this website, put in your email in the right side column, and it will take you to the download page for the 22 page booklet. Great recipes, no charge. Hi DeeDee,

Several people have asked about this and I just haven’t gotten around to doing it. If you want to give it a try, you might consider using the VitaMix recipe for this:

      http://vitamix.ahoy.com/recipe/recipe.cgi/0/386/

The difference of course is that with the Ninja, we don’t have the tamper, or the ability to go to “10″. I do think some variation of this recipe will work, and will try it out in the coming days and report back on success or failure!

      Hi Sandy,

Are you putting the lid back on when it is still slightly wet from the dishwasher? This can create a strong suction effect and makes the lid hard to get off. If this could be the case, I would recommend air drying the ild before putting it back on the jar.

took your advice and it did work better. The original one I had didn’t work, I think I tried to pry it off and it offset it. Ninja sent me a new one and I don’t want to ruin it.

Just purchased the Ninja 1200. I want mine primarily for organic veggie and fruit smoothies. The problem I am having is I cant get all the seeds out of the drink. Wasn’t sure if this is normal or if I was doing something wrong. My mom uses the Vitamix and doesnt seem to have that problem. Please advise.

      Hi Lewis,

Have you tried straining the juice with a mesh strainer? It seems that the blade design of the Ninja makes it so that if you want “just juice,” it really is best to strain out the pulp..,

Also, sorry – I just realized you said “seeds” – are you seeding the fruit before adding it? I wouldn’t add fruit with the seeds (eg, oranges) straight into the blender. You’ll want to remove those kinds of seeds before blending. Hope that helps. If I misunderstood your question, please let me know!

I bought my Ninja Pulse as a complete system from QVC last month and am extremely happy with it. I use it 1-4x a day, for different things. In the a.m. I make smoothies for my son and my husband (and sometimes for me too.) Later in the day, I do prep work for dinner in it by making sauces, marinades, shredding and slicing veggies (it came with a food processor top and a 48 oz container to do it in), grinding seeds and nuts and cheeses, and then when I am making dinner I have done prep work in it then too. I love it.

It came with a soft cover book that has like 100 recipes in it?? It is called Pulse It Up. Amazon is selling the set with the book. Here is a link to just the book:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B006VWYT2G/ref=dp_olp_0?ie=UTF8&condition=all

Anyway, it is a pretty good book. I am thrilled to find your site because you have created recipes just using the Ninja blenders and you came up with ice cream recipes, not just fruity ones. I am also experimenting with it and making a lot of recipes in it that are not in the books. I love using the single serve cups for uses other than smoothies such as sauces, grinding nuts and seeds and grinding parmesan cheese (which broke 2 food processors when I tried to do that in them.)

I will continue to come back and look at your recipes. You are very creative.

    Thanks for a great website.

    Hi Angela,
Thank you for providing so much information and all the many recipes for the ninja blender.
I am about to buy one, but just heard from a friend that she made salsa with the ninja.
The salsa turned out great, but long story short – regardless how many times she thoroughly washed the pitcher – everything else she made after this tasted like onions.
Since I do not want this to keep me back from getting a ninja of my own, I thought I’d ask you, someone who uses the ninja a lot.
Did you experience trapped/stuck fragrances/tastes inside the pitcher? How do you clean, by hand or in dishwasher?
Thanks in advance, and thanks for sharing your creative website.

Hi Anne~Just wanted to leave a quick comment regarding the “taste” stuck inside the pitcher. I make salsa a couple of times a week in my Ninja that’s loaded with onion and cilantro. After my last batch yesterday, I washed my pitcher and the blades really well with hot sudsy water and then shaved up some ice for snow cones. Absolutely no taste, smell or anything left behind from the salsa. I do always wash my Ninja by hand. Just thought I would throw in my 2 cents worth. Take care, Marla

      Hi Anne,

Interesting. I have never had this happen, and yes, I use the Ninja A LOT! I typically wash it (both Pulse and Ninja Professional) in the dishwasher. I am just far too lazy to do it by hand. :) Plus, I am a bit of a germ-o-phobe (just as my co-workers), so I have always liked the sanitation aspect of the dishwasher.

Also, thank you Marla for chiming in as well.

As far as your friend, I wonder if her pitcher is scratched up in some way? That is the only thing I could think of that may trap “smells” like that. Perhaps cleaing with lemon or orange juice may help take the smell away. (Pour in some juice and blend to swirl it all around).

      Hope that helps!

I was thinking as I was looking through the recipes, if anyone here is a type II diabetic, and if so what would you recommend for making veggie juice? or a diabetic smoothie. Many of the recipes seem to have a high sugar content, even if they are a healthy recipe. I eat lots of raw vegetables, but haven’t mixed them together to make a veggie drink. I guess for we diabetics we have to have probably small glasses of juice.

By the way, I use my ninja to make my own pasta sauce and salsa. For the pasta sauce I use around 6-8 peeled and seeded roma tomatoes. Then I toss in green pepper, a couple of cloves of garlic, onion, and red pepper. You can also add in some cooked italian sausage if you like a meat sauce. Blend it all up, throw it in a saucepan with a can of tomato paste and simmer for a couple of hours. I also throw in chopped mushrooms, depending on the type of sauce I’m making. This freezes very well.

We currently have no kitchen as we do a whole house remodel, but that particular week will are renting a house for a mini vacation, and I’m planning to buy the Mega and proceed blend up a big storm! :) I love my Ninja Professional, and am anxiously awaiting trying out the new Mega. A hint, too. They have it at Bed Bath and Beyond, and you can use a 20% coupon (sign up for their newsletter to get it) to get it — major discount.

I will tell you though, it can’t do one thing that a Vitamix can do, which is create hot soup in the blender itself. If that matters to you, you may want to consider the Vitamix over the Ninja. I will report back as soon as I humanly can!

          Good luck!

Awesome – thanks so much! As for the soup, if that’s the only difference, I’m willing to make soup on the stove for as little as I make soup and for a cost savings of $200-300! I do have the BBB coupons and saw the price there – it’s currently on Target’s site for $180 though and I have a couple of 5% coupons, so I may go that route. It’s backordered there, but I’m OK with that. Can’t wait to see your review – thanks again!

Hi, thank you for your quick and helpful answers. I actually picked two up at Walmart today (black Friday) because they were only $39 each, one for me and one for my mom. She needed one and I’ve never had my own. It’s just the blender without the single serve cup but I’m ok with that.

It’s a 700watt, 48oz pitcher and I couldn’t wait to use it. I had a pineapple and some bananas and put those in with some milk, vanilla, cinnamon and sugar and it was very good.
Very quick and very thin, I also made some a little chunkier and it was great, I enjoyed being able play with it and figure how thick and thin or chunky I wanted it. It’s very fast so I don’t think having to stand by it makes much difference.

As far as the stuff going into the handle, mine had no signs of it!! And having the lid sit on the counter and the mess, I just put it upside down to rest on the handle and no mess!
Thanks for writing your informative review! I’m very happy with my purchase and I’m sure my mom will love it for Christmas!

Just discovered this site while looking for Ninja recipes. I recently a Ninja system 750 watt from QVC. I also had lap band surgery and am now on a high protein/lo-carb life style. My new lifestyle is very similar to the needs of a type 2 diabetic. Are you planning a recipe series geared toward that? Bariatric patients have specific needs. Would be awsome if you did that.

      Hi there,

I haven’t specifically planned a recipe series that is high protein/low carb, but, I do live very similar to that myself. I probably gear a little more to higher protein and fat, lower carb, as I have eliminated almost all grains and use very little sugar. I’m not really up-to-speed on the specific needs of bariatric patients, but I will definitely think about this when posting recipes to note if they meet the parameters you noted. Good luck to you, and thanks for your note!

I forgot to ask if you have reviewed that one. In reading all the posts, I did not see any 750 watt owners. The majority seems to be 1200 watts. I’m wondering of im going to get results like you guys with such low wattage.

I sure have — here is my Ninja Pulse review. http://testkitchentuesday.com/2012/01/03/product-review-ninja-pulse-blending-system/

For what it’s worth, I use my Pulse every day. I just gave one to my mother-in-law as well because I like it so much. We are in the middle of a remodel, and it takes up less space, so that is the one I leave out! 750 watts is still a lot of power (most “normal” blenders only have about 300-400 watts), so you will be just fine!

Yes, absolutely! You will need to add some liquid just like making mashed potatoes with a traditional mixer.

I got the Ninja Professional 1500 and love it. Didn’t get a full recipe book but it had a few. After checking around I found your site. Lots of useful information being posted. I’m going to keep experimenting with different recipes and I find a few I’ll post. My wife and mine favorite so far is spinach artichoke dip!

Will the slicing blade package for the 1500 work with the 1200?

      Hi Brett,

Unfortunately, no, Ninja has made all their different models so the parts are not interchangeable. This is a bad idea, IMO, but it’s the way they’ve gone…

I recently purchased the Ninja Professional 1200 with the single serve . I am looking for the citrus sundrenched salad dressing recipe as well as other dressing. Mine did not include any dressings or ice cream recipes. Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

      Hi Suzanne,

Sorry, I am just now seeing your comment! I didn’t get a recipe book when I bought the Ninja Professional, so I don’t really know the answer here. I would suggest reaching out to the Ninja Folks directly through their chat feature. They are super helpful and responsive, and I bet they can help you out here.

Hello, Thanks so much for the great recipes; looks like you’ve helped a lot of people and had some fun along the way!! Can’t wait to try some of them. We just purchased the 1200 system and then saw the infomercial for the mega 1500 system. Do you know if the 200 will grind chicken and salmon to make burgers the way the 1500 will?

I just today bought the Ninja QB1004 with the 3 different containers. It has a lot of power so I put ice cubes in it and it did reduce it to snow. Then I tried to make a frozen drink, I put my liquid in and then I put in crushed ice and poured it into a glass but the liquid and ice seperates. I tried this many different times with different amounts of liquid and ice but keep getting just liquid with the ice staying in the container. What do I need to do? Any help would be appreciated .

      Hi Connie,

I’m not totally sure I understand what you are trying to do. Are you trying to make a slushy? I would recommend making the snow, then pouring the liquid into the blender jar with the snow, pulsing 4-5 times to combine, and then pouring out the mixture from the blender instead of trying to combine it in a glass. Just an idea…let me know if I misunderstood what you are trying to do!

I was trying to make frozen limeade. I put the ice cubes int the blender, the lime juice and simple syrup and added some water then turned the blender on. When I pour it out into the glass, the liquid only pours out into the glass and the ice stays in the blender. They are seperating not blending together.

      Hi Connie,

Okay, I understand now. I would tell you to take a slightly different approach. Make your limeade, and pour into ice trays. Then, freeze until hard. When you want a limeade, blend the frozen limeade ice cubes to a consistency you like.

Give it a shot and let me know!
