Cucumber Infused Water

Have you ever tried infused water? It is so easy to make, and delicious!

I have mentioned before that the “cafeteria” at work is really phenomenal. It’s more like a food court, with options for every taste (hot bar, salad bar, Italian, Mexican, Thai, sandwiches, comfort foods, and the list goes on). It’s also subsidized, which makes grabbing lunch onsite a fairly affordable option. The salad bar is by ounce but capped at $7.95, which means I always fill up on the heaviest items (sweet potatoes!) to make sure I get my money’s worth. Totally gaming the system.

One thing I hadn’t noticed until last week, is that around the corner from the cash register, sort of hidden away even, is a selection of complimentary infused waters.

They have cucumber, orange, lemon and fresh brewed iced tea. After a moment of analysis paralysis, I selected cucumber infused water – and it was the right choice. So refreshing!

The good news is that it is so easy to make this at home!

It really boils down to:

  • Wash and slice a cucumber (no need to peel)
  • Add to pitcher of water (at least 1/2 gallon)
  • Chill for a couple of hours
  • The more cucumber you add, the more flavor
  • Serve sans cucumber slices

You don’t have to stop at cucumber, there are lots of flavor combinations that are only limited by your imagination.

I think it would be good to add sliced oranges or sliced lemons (or both) with the cucumber to make a citrus cucumber infused water. Berries would also be good, as would mint.
