Super Easy Dessert Idea: Baked Apples

This idea is so easy,  can’t even call it a recipe. One night on a whim, I threw some apples into the oven when I was roasting potatoes, thinking it might be nice to have a warm apple for dessert.

It was so good. Of course, the vanilla ice cream I put on the side didn’t hurt either…warm apples and ice cream are magic together!

Anyway, something amazing happens when you bake an apple – it gets gooey and sweeter, and it is the perfect healthy dessert! Prep is as simple as “wash the apple,” and since you can throw it in the oven with something else (in a different pan of course),  have your dessert waiting when dinner is over.

Baked Apples

Ingredients:

  • Apples of your choice – I used organic pink lady apples because they were on sale. I think sweet apples over tart for this application would be best – so I wouldn’t go with Granny Smiths or the like

Method:

  • Preheat Oven to 400 degrees F
  • Wash and dry your apples and place in an oven-safe baking pan (I used an 8×8 Pyrex)
  • Bake at 400 for 30 minutes, until apples are soft
  • Enjoy!

Nutrition:

For one medium apple.
