Project: Food Budget–Week 23 & Garden Goods

I mentioned on Monday that you can save some cha-ching at Whole Foods with their coupons – which are not really promoted or emphasized at the store – and this week I put that tip to work. I went online and browsed their coupons and then printed off the ones I wanted. So easy. And, I only printed things I know we like and would use – you don’t really save money clipping coupons or buying on sale if you buy things you don’t normally use!

Here’s the damage.

Goal: $75
Actual: $60.53

This is the first week I’ve bought pre-made bread in probably over a year. 2Chili’s response: “homemade is better.” He’s right! Homemade is better.

In other news, I had my first “harvest” from my garden last night – some lovely spinach, and there’s lots more where it came from. Sadly, I have quite a lot of weeds this year – not sure if it is from the really wet spring, or what really, but my garden is pretty high maintenance. Anybody have tips for organic weed preventer?

On the Menu for the Week:

This week has been a little hectic, so I didn’t do a plan-ahead menu. We’ve been playing it day-by-day. But, several of our Test Kitchen Favorites made the cut this week.

so funny your dog!! exciting to grow your own stuff – if the weeds are nettles, don’t forget to use them for tea and soup – very healthy!
