Falling into Fall – Comforting Recipes for Autumn

Hands down, no question, Fall is my favorite season.

I love it when the air turns crisp, the leaves turn yellow, and, the sweaters start to come out of hibernation. College football, pumpkin spice everything, and ski swaps fill our weekends. It’s a good time of year. Of course, in Seattle, this is a bit of a strange juxtaposition – the loving of fall – due to its close proximity to the perma-season around here: Winter. Otherwise known as “The rainy season.”

You can’t have fall with no winter, alas, so I enjoy it while it’s here and love it for what it is, knowing full-well the rain is on its way.

Thankfully, this year, we have a retreat in Bend, Oregon, where the winter precipitation is in the form of snow, not rain, and the sun shines 300 days a year. So, when Seattle gets just a bit too damp, we can flee for a bit to get some sunshine. I think having a getaway somewhere sunny is the key to successfully surviving year after year of Seattle winters!

As we lean into cooler weather, and I go digging for the polar fleece hidden in the back of the closet, I thought I’d compile some recipes from the past that feel like fall to me.

These are some of my favorites, but I’d love to hear some of yours.

Do you have a favorite fall recipe?
