Test Kitchen Tuesday: Roasted Broccoli

Unlike former President George H.W. Bush, 2ChiliBreadBowl quite enjoys broccoli. Like former President George H.W. Bush (okay, Dana Carvey), he does often walk around saying “Not Gonna Do It, Wouldn’t Be Prudent,” in a slightly nasally Texan accent. He also delivered all of the tax preparation documents I requested to my desk in complete George W. Bush impression mode, which, I have to tell you, is pretty hilarious. It’s hard to be upset about missing receipts or omissions in data when being provided this information in full on SNL-skit president impersonation mode.

But, back to the broccoli.

It seems like we have had a lot of broccoli in our produce box lately, and I have grown tired of the standard “steam it” method of preparation. So, for this week’s Test Kitchen Tuesday, I tried out a new way to prepare broccoli: Roasting it.

(In case you’re wondering, that’s a grilled seitan and hummus sandwich, which is honestly like a chicken sandwich with cheese. Really.)

The Verdict:

This was a nice way to prepare broccoli – very easy, really – but not really that different in taste than steaming. We both thought it was good, so I’ll probably make it this way again, but we really didn’t have a super strong preference for this method of making broccoli over any other.
