It is supposed to beautiful day in Seattle – and hopefully it turns out that way! I love it when sunshine appears in time for a Friday! Makes me want to break out the John Denver and sing, “Sunshine, on my shoulder, makes me happy…” Yesterday was a crazy day, though: Rain, sleet, hail, sunshine, snow, sunshine, and snow. Mother Nature can be a finicky old gal sometimes!
Here are a few items on my mind this week:
- My blog friend Carolyn Cain posted a great video on why you NEED healthy fat in your diet. Those of us who came of age in the late ‘80s/early ‘90s were done a major disservice by the whole low-fat craze, and thankfully some sense has been brought back into our lives: The right kinds of fat are vital to your health and happiness.
- The Rich Roll podcast is really great, for those that are podcast people Into endurance sports and nutrition. He gets great guests and they have intelligent, two-sided conversations about health, nutrition, and living your best life. The current episode features Natasha Kufa and is really interesting and informative.
- Speaking of podcasts, I bought a pair of wireless Bluetooth headphones for running on the treadmill. I am a big podcast fan, and usually listen while running or walking the dog. I can’t tell you how many times I have gotten tangled up in headphone wires while on the treadmill and my phone went flying. I’m a bit of a butterfingers, so removing the wired headphone became important as I’ve been running more. I love these headphones! They were pretty affordable, and are maybe not the most “bells and whistles”-packed wireless headphones out there. But, they have changed my treadmill running for the better, and they do what I need them to do. I am decently “tech-y” so I didn’t find them hard to set up, though some Amazon reviewers said they found them kind of confusing to set up.
- Here is a great in-depth article from Real Food Forager that exposes the hidden truths behind agave nectar. I am not a fan of agave – don’t like the way it tastes – but I have heard many of these points before. Bottom line: It’s not a natural sweetener. I stick with honey, dates, and pure maple syrup!
Happy weekend, and thanks for reading!
