I alluded some time back that we had a big milestone coming around the virtual halls of Test Kitchen Tuesday, and that time is certainly upon us.
Yesterday, this blog had its one millionth page viewer! Most of these page views came in 2012, which is really saying something! This not only flabbergasts me, it makes me excited and energized to continue to share my crazy thoughts with you guys.
When I started this blog in late 2010, I had no idea the twists and turns my life would take in the following two years, and, I certainly had no idea the direction the blog would take.
In the beginning, I simply wanted to share my passion for healthy eating, and, I decided it would be better to separate that content from my existing “life” blog, which mostly chronicles home remodeling and sports stuff that we have going on. As a side note, my life blog used to be hosted on Windows Live Spaces, and, when that went away, I was introduced to WordPress. I loved the platform and that is initially what made me think I could actually run two blogs at once.
Little did I know that breaking my blender would ultimately lead me down the path of becoming a bit of a blending maven, thanks to picking up a Ninja Professional Blender. I do eat other things than come out of a blender, for what it’s worth, but it seems that my niche is firmly set in the “blending space.” I can wax poetic about any number of items around these parts, but the numbers don’t lie – people want to read about blending. I’m happy about that because it gives me direction about what you guys want to read, but also, having a specialty is kind of cool in its own right.
Now, with that little lead up over with, I want to share with you my plans for celebrating this milestone. When we hit 500,000 page views, I gave away a Ninja Pulse. I have come to realize that the vast majority of folks that read this blog with any regularity already have a Ninja Blender of some sort, so giving one away isn’t maybe the best way to go. So, I am taking another route entirely, and giving away some great, nutritious items you can blend up in your blender. These are some of my favorite smoothie add-ins, so I know you’ll get good results.
This giveaway is not sponsored or supported by any company. It’s just me, saying to you, thanks a million for all your support, encouragement, comments, and recipe requests over the last two years.

I love chia seeds and flax seeds. I never tried the green superfood powder it sounds great.
I enjoy the effervescent, lactobacterial goodness of mild kim chee. As well as being great for digestion, it satisfies the craving for a bite of something with zingy flavor and helps me avoid the desire for a sweet snack.
Nancy, I have never tried Kim Chee but have been eyeing it at Whole Foods. Which one do you like, or do you make it yourself? Would love to know!
I buy the mild kind, Jo San brand. I’ve also made it, once successfully and the 2nd time with TOO MUCH garlic. It’s easy to make with approximately the right ingredients.
Congratulations! As someone who found your website while researching the Ninja PK 1200, I love reading your blogs and I use many of your recipes. I can’t wait to really dig into your new book. I tell everyone I know that is getting into blending to check out your site.
I love coconut oil and would actually love to try the coconut manna. We use coconut oil for many things, not only in cooking and drinking but for our hair and skin as well.
I can’t wait to see what the new year brings you for us to all read and share!
Thanks Shelli!
Coconut oil is an amazing, amazing food. I use it for lotion, too. It works wonders! Coconut manna is definitely awesome too. Good luck!
My Herbalife Meal replacement and protein shake is how I start everyday!! Packed w the nutrients to meet my RDA , tasty and protein packed!
Love my Herbalife products!
I love to add flax and chia seeds to my shakes and snacks as well! Easiest way to add nutrients to a snack or meal!!
I have to admit all this is new to me, and that I haven’t even heard of most of what’s been mentioned already. So I’m going to say that my favorite healthy foods are organic fruits and vegetables.
i love caluliflower mash- so much better than mashed potatoes in my opinion!
Thanks to all for your comments/healthy foods! I am really enjoying them! I am going to stop commenting so as not to throw off the numbers for the drawing, but keep ’em coming!
I’m just getting into using my blender every day and so far this is my favorite food: Zucchini Hummus, a recipe from Jennifer Cornbleet’s book.
Hello Angela, I came cross your blog after a friend referred me to your book! Its amazing and Im enjoying some of your recipes!
As for healthy foods – I love grilled tofu and protein shakes. I make my shakes with frozen berries, protein powder, peanut butter and water. I add kale or almonds sometimes. If I get really hungry, I add banana and some flax meal as well. Keeps me full. and the shakes have an even smoother texture since I got my ninja ?
As for grilled tofu – I just slice them thin and grill them (instead of fry) and season with salt and whatever seasoning I find at home, especially some garam masala (the indian one). Love it! I use cooking spray instead of oil. Makes for a great snack and left overs go on my salad.
wish you the best!
Love reading your blog and learning how to cook healthy. Just started using
Chia seeds this past year my favorite is blending some frozen fruit with
some chia and a couple of drops of stevia makes a healthy sugar free fruit spread.
