Project: Food Budget–Week 31

Wow! It is May! I hate to be cliché, but where is the time going? I can’t say I am unhappy about being in May, though. After living in Seattle for 13 years, I am looking forward to our first true Spring and Summer in Central Oregon, where sunshine abounds. Bring on the sun!

This week was a little different for us, as we had a weekender to Eugene for the half marathon I ran, and then I did Jay Robb’s fruit flush for the first half of this week. The verdict on the fruit flush was that it was pretty do-able, though at a certain point I was over fruit! While the flush promises you could lose up to 9 pounds in 3 days, I netted out exactly the same. But, I feel good, so I would recommend it as a nice way to hit the reset button.

Total for the week: $75.22

Total for the month: $337.42

Goal for the month: $350

Menu for the Week:

Fruit, fruit, fruit – and veggies.

We have a couple of crazy travel weeks coming up, but after that I am set on getting back on the menu bandwagon again. The time will come!

  • Yay, great budgeting this month. I’m sooo sooo looking forward to spring too. Our rhubarb will probably be ready in a few days, and a local farm is offering local asparagus, as well as a bunch of lovely veggies from closeby in NJ.

Hey, I was glancing at the TJ’s flyer for the month, and laughed when I saw this product

cookie butter!! from real cookies! Talk about decadent and lovely! I won’t be buying it, but it does sound yummy.

    • Hah, yes, 2Chili has been asking me what this “cookie butter” is for a while. We aren’t planning to try it but it is all the rage in bicycling circles – apparently the cyclists love it!

I noticed the Bend produce stand opened this week so I am planning to head down there this weekend and see what is ready. Probably not rhubarb or asparagus yet, but I am sure they will have something enticing! Have a good weekend!
