Project: Food Budget–Week 21

Would you believe we’re almost to the end of Project: Food Budget?! Emily sent us a note last week noting that we have only a few more weeks of the formal project.

My how time flies!

This week, I took the lazy way out. While I really didn’t get very sore at all from my Half Ironman race (pleasantly surprising), I have been pretty wiped out in a “I just want to sleep” kind of way. So, let my fingers do the walking and clicked up a grocery order from my buds over at Amazon.

I also have to mention that a few weeks ago we were considering selling our house — as we are wont to do — and, one thing that we seriously discussed was the lack of Amazon Fresh at the potential new house and how that would impact us. We are spoiled!

Never fear, the “new” house turned out to be a dud and we both realized very quickly we didn’t want to do another massive fixer upper. Sometimes you have to do a little research to know what you really want! We are staying put at La Casa de Test Kitchen…at least for now.

Here’s the damage for the week.

  • You do so well with your budget – well done you!
You’ve done the half iron(wo)man – good for you! Can’t believe you’re not feeling too sore. Are you going to set yourself a new training schedule or carry on with the ‘old’?
What do you mean by ‘Amazon Fresh’?!

    • Thanks for the nice note!

Amazon Fresh is a spin off of Amazon.com that is only in Seattle (at this time). It’s an online grocery delivery service — but, you can also order a lot of Amazon.com items to come with your groceries (from books and DVDs to electronics and baby gifts)! You just place an order online and 3-4 hours later it’s at your door (or whenever you want it thereafter). I find it so convenient for grocery ordering because I don’t have to get in the car and go – and it cuts down on impulse shopping. I just order what we need.

I am hooked on the half Ironman distance now and have lots of room to improve, so, already thinking about a big event for next year! Meantime, I have a few smaller races on the schedule for the rest of the summer that I’m working towards. So, a week off and then back at it!
