I love this recipe, I make it each Sunday for the coming week and have tried a few variations. Here is the favorite so far:

    1/2 cup dried sour cherries
    1/2 cup dried strawberries
1/2 cup cashew butter (made fresh in the Ninja KS 1200 also)
    1/3 cup rolled oats

I made this version this weekend after doing some shopping at a local market that carries a lot of dried fruits and nuts. Make sure you find pitted dried sour cherries, or pit them before using. I didn’t realize they had pits in them and had to get them out after! Glad I only used 1/2 cup of them! I have replaced the dates from your original recipe with combinations of the following dried fruits: fig, cherries, sour cherries, strawberries, cranberries. I have not had any problems with them sticking together, I remember seeing this question posted previously.

Thanks for all the great recipes, I look forward to your blogs each week and wish everyone good luck in their quest to win the Ninja Pulse.

      Hi Paula,

Which recipe are you looking at? I put nutritional info in the original recipe posts, so if you are looking at the recipage, you’ll want to click through to see the original post, and scroll to the bottom.

I have just purchased the mega kitchen system with high hopes of making yeast breads faster and easier than with my kitchen aid mixer, also for making juices and smoothies. Do you have at least one yeast bread recipe that I can follow and then substitute ingredients with???

      Hi Sandy,

Sorry to say, I pretty much exclusively use a bread maker when making bread. We’re in a full gut remodel right now, and I presently don’t have a stove (or a real kitchen), so the bread making has been a little lacking later. However, here is what I would generally recommend since it sounds like you have a recipe you already like:

Proof the yeast as directed and add to the 64 ounce food processor bowl with the plastic dough blade. Add the oil and flour (1 cup at a time) and any other ingredients, pulsing until the dough is smooth and no lumps remain. Transfer the dough to a lightly-oiled bowl and cover. Let rise for specified time and proceed with your recipe as directed.

      Hope that helps,
      Angela

This looks delicious, but can I switch the active dry yeast with rapid rise (or bread machine yeast)? If so, what changes would I need to make to the recipe? Thanks!

        Hi Olivine,

Sure, you could do that. You don’t really have to do anything differently since this recipe doesn’t do two “rises” per se. You can just use bread machine yeast and follow the instructions from your bread maker and should be good to go!

      Hi Bev,

I often use frozen roasted sweet potatoes in smoothies instead of bananas. I’m not sure which recipe you’re asking about, but it could work if you’re asking about a smoothie!

What’s the process for dehydrating the flax seed crackers? Doesn’t seem like you’re using a dehydrator… the jelly roll pan wouldn’t fit.

Do you have a recipe for sesame crackers?

      Hi Angel,

I’m using the dehydrator with the fruit roll tray inserts, not a traditional jelly roll pan. They’re just the thin plastic inserts that are about 1/2″ tall.

I don’t have a recipe (yet) for sesame crackers, but you could use this recipe and add sesame seeds to it, which I have done a few times. I just add about 1/2 cup of sesame seeds into the mixture before I spread it out to dry.

      Hope that helps!
