Happy {Late} Thanksgiving from San Diego

We have spent the last few days in San Diego. I lost track of time and didn’t get to send well wishes yesterday. I hope you had a fabulous Thanksgiving!

Here are a few pictures from our mini-getaway. The weather was fantastic and it was nice to not be working around the house for a few days, though we are currently headed back to Seattle and life will resume as normal very soon. I have drywall calling my name for this weekend!

This is the view of downtown from Coronado Island, where I would happily move if we were unspeakably wealthy!

2Chili did a great job finding us a convenient hotel in downtown San Diego, and it had quite a view, both day and night!

We took in lots of sunshine (more important than you know!) and all the attractions we could, including finding the old “Top Gun” house in Oceanside – it is in a state of disrepair and about to be re-located and renovated. We almost didn’t recognize it!

This is the view from the Top Gun house:

One of the days, we did some hiking and hit the beach afterwards, and instantly regretted not having our wetsuits so we could play in the ocean! Mission Beach was a ghost town and gorgeous.

No trip to a port town is complete without a visit aboard a ship, so we toured the U.S.S. Midway, which is docked not far from where we were staying.

Yesterday, we participated in a 5K Turkey Trot in Balboa park with 10,000 other people – including my folks — and hundreds of dogs. ‘Twas a great way to start the holiday.

And, proof that we clean up okay – headed out to dinner last night. We had a great meal that required absolutely zero clean up at the Harbor House in Seaport Village. Highly recommended if you are ever in town.

Be careful out there if you are Black Friday shopping!
