Y’all!
Today I have a big announcement.
But first, I have to confess that I don’t really say the word “y’all” in real life. Contrary to popular belief, you cantake the girl out of Texas and the y’all out of the girl. But for some reason, it flows sometimes on the blog and seemed like a fitting opening to saying that I have a big announcement.
Now for the big announcement:
This humble blog is featured in the New York Times Dining Section today. I don’t know how I managed to get on a list of publications including the likes of the Wall Street Journal and the San Francisco Chronicle, but I did.
As a college student, I used to sit in the library and read the New York Times and plan my future as a newspaper writer. Back in those days, we read the paper on…well…paper. Times have changed and my path didn’t work out nearly as I planned (whose does?), but I find it highly exciting to have a mention in my gold standard newspaper in the U.S.
I never in my wildest dreams thought that the reason I would someday be referenced in the NYT was as a food blogger. It goes to show you that the path we think is right is not always right, and sometimes it takes hindsight to understand why things don’t go the way you plan.
