Friday Round Up–6/7/13

Friends, I’m on the countdown to the end of a huge work project that culminates next Friday. I’m like a college kid cramming for finals – doing everything I can to stay afloat and just looking forward to the “day after” it all ends! It’s so, so close. And, I plan to start bringing you a little more regular content once the madness dies down.

In the meantime, here are some articles and thoughts that piqued my interest this week.

Hands-free Whopper eating device. It’s not surprise that I totally disagree with the headline that this is the “greatest invention in history.”  Who knows what the greatest invention/discovery is – Penicillin? Electricity? Running water? – but clearly it is anything but this. I would have probably titled this article, “The most ridiculous invention in history, and just another reason for people to remain lazy.”

The 7 nastiest things lurking in your supermarket. Buyer beware. Enough said.

I  have been trying these noodles called “Miracle Noodle” lately. I bought them on my quest to find gluten free noodles, but they come with the added benefit of having zero calories. For real. They’re made of soluble mushroom fiber and water. They’re a little on the different side – more like an Asian noodle deal – but you know what? I like them! I was skeptical based on the Amazon reviews, but I’m glad I tried them. I’ll do a better write up down the line when I’ve tried all the varieties.

Is milk healthy? A great backgrounder on milk, milk production, and why raw milk is the way to go, especially over skim milk. We were so whitewashed in the ‘90s to believe that fat is bad, but in reality, our bodies and brains need certain good fats. We don’t drink dairy milk around these parts anymore due to food sensitivities, but, if we were going to, I’d seek out raw milk from a rancher and go that route – to get the most nutritious milk available. It’s not illegal in Washington State, but there are plenty of states where it is, so, be careful if you’re out sourcing raw milk. Go here to find out if it is illegal in your state.

Dr. Sarah Gottfried is giving away 10 copies of her book, The Hormone Cure. I have read her book and like her approach to rebalancing your life if you’re just not feeling quite “right.”

Have a great weekend, and I’ll catch you on the flipside!
