I answered my own question, Angela, after doing some more readin on your site (should have known I'd find the answer!). I used the single serve jar and it worked perfectly! I had 2 cups dry urad dal and 1 cup dry basmati rice combined - I was able to grind it all in 3 batches (probably could have done it in 2) in less than 15 seconds per batch. I'm so totally in love!

Hey Angela - I tried dry grinding basmati and urad dal this morning in the 64oz container of my Mega Kirchen System, and I really got nowhere. I didn't think to soak either and now I don't want to throw away what I have (whatever was closest to the bottom seems to have become flour, but not the rest) in order to start over. Do you have any ideas on how to fix this? I'd normally just use my spice grinder in small batches, but that stopped working a week ago! Have you done dry grinding without soaking? Please help!

Hi Terri,

I have never made wheat flour with the Ninja, however, I am confident it can do this for you. Soaking wheat berries is one of those "optional" things. You could do this if you want, but it's not required. Personally, I would soak them. Then, follow the steps just as you would if you were making rice flour. The Ninja works best with volume, especially if you are using the 72 ounce pitcher, so I would say add at least 1 cup, but 2 cups would better to really get things moving...

Hope that helps,
Angela

Wow, I am surprised by that. Mine turned into a nice consistency flour. I'm wondering what kind of rice you used?

i definitely blended it more than 3 minutes on level 3. It was really grainy and hard to use basically not usable. I tried to make spinach tortillas but it tasted horrible and it was super thick! It tasted like very grainy uncooked rice and I couldn't even eat it. I had to spit it out. :(

Gosh, this has been a while ago and before I started making a concerted effort to time various Ninja projects. I'm going to say no more than about 2-3 minutes of blending on level 3. Was it too grainy to use or just grainier than say, all-purpose flour?
