Moving Week!

We are just about all packed up to move out of our Seattle house, so the kitchen is closed until we get back to Bend this weekend. We’re in camping mode – a 2500 square foot house reduced to about 200 square feet with a couch, bed, and TV. Surprisingly, the cat is rolling with it quite well, and the dog thinks she’s in some sort of doggy heaven where everyone sleeps inches away from her.

Since I have talked a bit about how we spent a few years remodeling the place, I thought I’d share a few photos just for fun. When we bought this house, it was a serious fixer-upper, and sadly, it was almost at the peak of the big real estate boom. So, this hard work didn’t really pay off in the traditional sense, as we just sold the place for what we paid for it. But, I see it as time spent together and somewhat as a hobby. Easy come, easy go, as they say.

Here is the before. I am  not certain, but it is possible that the Munsters lived here for a chunk of time…

2Chili and I make a pretty good renovation team. He is the carpenter and I am the painter; he lays the tile and I do the grout; he has the ideas and I shoot them down (just kidding on that last one). The key is having a specialty so you don’t get in each other’s way!

For the most part, I am not going to miss maintaining this house, but I am going to miss this tub, and the extra large shower you don’t see in the picture. I wanted a spa bathroom and certainly got it.

This is where most of the TKT posts over the last year have been written.

Our guests bathed in the lap of luxury!

I am certain of this – I will never willingly buy a three story home again! I am not crazy about being on really extended tall ladders – and I spent a lot of time on one re-siding and painting this joint.

And with that, I hope you enjoyed a little tour of the soon-to-be former TKT home. I’ll be back on Thursday with Project: Food Budget (hint, it’s miniscule), and then hopefully get settled back into the routine in the coming weeks.
